Certified Trust PractitionerTM Accreditation Program
A new accreditation program is being launched by the Hong Kong Trustees’ Association on 1 July 2018. The accreditation program is the first in Hong Kong and is being introduced in order to:
- develop talent within the trust and fiduciary services industries in Hong Kong in a systematic manner;
- set minimum professional standards within the trust industry;
- encourage new entrants to the industry and provide a platform for opportunities of career advancement; and
- promote confidence of clients, financial service sectors and regulatory bodies in fiduciary services through setting professional standards and competency of individuals working in the trust industry.
The accreditation will confer a Certified Trust Practitioner™ designation to individuals who have successfully attained the accreditation requirements.
Accreditation Requirements
Certified Trust Practitioner™designation will be awarded to individual members of the Hong Kong Trustees’ Association who have satisfied the Certification, Experience and Membership requirements.
Certification - Trust Training Certificate Course ("TTC") READ MORE
The Trust Training Certificate Course by the HKTA in conjunction with the Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute to bridge the knowledge gap. It is the first trust training course in Hong Kong with comprehensive coverage of topics including compliance, estate planning, family office, collective investment schemes and retirement schemes (MPF/ORSO) and comparison of HK with other trust jurisdictions.

Part A is expanded to increase coverage on corporate trusts, funds and pensions and to update relevant regulatory regimes, such as the new HKMA Code of Practice for Trust Business and the new SFC Regulated Activity type 13 (“RA13”) requirements for conducting the SFC authorized CIS depositaries.

Part B is updated to reflect new legislation and focuses more specifically on Hong Kong arrangements.

Examination framework
There are separate exams for Part A and Part B Stream 1 and Part B stream 2. Examinations will generally be held within 2 -3 weeks after completion of courses. Students need to attend the course lectures to sit the examinations. A student who has completed Part A or Part B of the course may defer sitting the examination for a maximum period of 3 years counting from the first unit attended up to the examination date for each Part. After 3 years, the student will be required to re-enrol and undertake the course again in order to sit the examination.
The examination is a 90 minutes computer based examination for each part. It conists of 60 of Multiple-choice Questions in English. The pass mark is 70%.

Award
Collectively all units completed from Part A and 7 completed units from Part B, form the full course. To be awarded the Trust Training Certificate, individuals are required to complete all seven units of corresponding TTC Course within three years, counting from the first unit attended up to 5 working days before sitting the examination and the Part A and Part B of TTC Examination within six years from the date of the first class of TTC course.
